Jobs For Youth/Chicago helps young men and women from low-income families become a part of the economic mainstream; and, in the process, provides the business community with motivated job-ready workers. Jobs For Youth is a free program for teens and young adults ages 17 to 24.

Association House

Association House was established in 1899 to serve as a community resource to help families help themselves. Association House programs have adapted with each changing era to meet the current communities’ needs. We have always focused on a core mission to offer services to economically disadvantaged individuals and families.

Albany Park Community Center

APCC's Community Technology Center (CTC) is located at 5121 N. Kimball, 2 nd Floor. The CTC offers basic computer literacy courses: Introduction to Computers, MS Word (Basic), MS Excel (Basic). The Word and Excel courses prepare community members for the Microsoft Office Specialist tests recognized by businesses as a qualification for employment or advancement. Course fees are reasonable, and a good value compared to other computer training providers. New classes begin each month.

The Enterprising Kitchen

The Enterprising Kitchen (TEK), a nonprofit social enterprise, provides workforce development and support services to women who are working toward self-sufficiency and economic independence. Within the context of a business where we manufacture natural soaps and spa products, under the brand name Choices from The Enterprising Kitchen, women receive intensive workforce preparation and skills development including: paid employment, work and life skills training, individualized career planning, high school equivalency preparation, technology training, financial planning and a variety of other support services. Located in Chicago, our enterprise enables lower-income women who have been unemployed and underemployed to maximize their individual potential and move into sustainable employment after 6-12 months. The Enterprising Kitchen was founded in 1996 and recently relocated to a larger, more efficient training and production facility located in Chicago's Ravenswood industrial corridor.

Chicago Commons

It is the same today as it was in 1894, the year of our founding by the social reformer, Graham Taylor. Graham Taylor's vision was to create a community of people that worked with--and not for--people, helping them overcome obstacles by building on strengths and assets.

African American Christian Foundation
