i.c.stars Celebrates ‘Life’ Side of Work-Life Balance at 2008 TechBash
Group hopes future IT leaders will learn importance of balance in demanding leadership positions
Chicago, IL (November 11, 2008) — i.c.stars is celebrating the “Life” side of the Work-Life balance at their upcoming TechBash. The event will be held November 20, 2008, and is being sponsored by organizations including Society for Information Management, Chicago Interactive Marketing Association, Association of Information Technology Professionals, Black Data Processing Associates, Illinois IT Association, Technology Executive Network and Technology Leaders Association.
“We believe that by celebrating the hobbies and interests of our IT and VC leaders, the next generation of leaders will see how to achieve a healthy balance while working in demanding leadership positions,” said Sandee Kastrul, president and co-founder of i.c.stars. “We want nothing more for our interns and alumni than to be community leaders with successful careers and fulfilled lives at home. Who better for them to learn this from than the men and women currently in those leadership positions?”
Roughly 500 C-Level IT executives, i.c.stars alumni, sponsors and board members are expected to attend TechBash this year, up 100 from last year’s already-impressive turnout. The Celebrity Bartenders will be back in full force, and will include Bruce Carver, Cummins, Inc. CIO; Jim Maza, Rasmussen CIO; Jim Jacoby, Manifest Digital CEO; John Golden, CNA CIO; Brad Anderson, Hewitt CIO; Ed Earl, Littelfuse CIO; Susan Malisch, Loyola University Chicago CIO, and; Fred Hoch, ITA president.
A new feature at TechBash is a silent auction that will provide attendees with the hottest happenings in town, including a Bulls Game, the NHRA Nationals Race, Private Tennis Lessons, a Walking Tour and more.
“TechBash really is the premier event that brings Chicagoland’s entire hi-tech community together,” noted Ellen Barry, CIO of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority and chairperson of the i.c.stars Event Committee. “It’s a fun, interesting event that offers a chance to connect with fellow leaders and VIPs in our area that support i.c.stars’ mission to develop 1,000 community leaders by 2020.”
TechBash will be held Thursday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m. at 200 South Wacker Drive. Use of the 20,000 square foot space was donated by Behringer Harvard and CB Richard Ellis. Tickets are $75, but tickets are complimentary for i.c.stars sponsors. Purchase tickets for TechBash or register online here. Media is invited to attend complimentary and is asked to contact Eric Lannert for specific details.
Proceeds from TechBash will be used to expand the i.c.stars program.
