i.c. stars and Modularis Partner to Deliver the Latest Technology Training to Inner City Young Adults
CHICAGO, IL August 17, 2004 - Modularis, a leading provider of enterprise software tools for the Microsoft platform, and i.c.stars, an innovative non-profit training program for inner-city young adults, today announced a partnership in which i.c.stars will use Modularis' products and services to deliver its .NET training curriculum.
"We have been adding more business analysis and design into our curriculum during the past 18 months," said Eric Lannert, technical director at i.c.stars. "The Modularis Accelerator will empower our interns to dramatically increase their knowledge of designing and building service-oriented applications."
"We are thrilled about this partnership," said A.J. Singh, president of Modularis. "i.c.stars has a proven model for developing business and leadership skills. This partnership will enable them to take their technology training to the next level. We are particularly excited to share our expertise in software architecture with the interns through a volunteering and coaching program."
"Working with Accelerator helped me learn a lot about software architecture and best practices in a very short time," said Javier Perez, an i.c.stars alumni hired by Modularis last Spring. "I'm excited that now all the interns at i.c.stars will have the opportunity to work with Accelerator and learn from A.J. and his team."
i.c.stars interns are currently using Modularis Accelerator to build and integrate web applications. Three teams of interns are already creating business plans enabled by these Accelerated applications.
Steve Miller, a local angel investor and i.c.stars board member, helps the i.c.stars interns develop their business concepts. "The addition of Modularis Accelerator to the i.c.stars curriculum will greatly enhance the learning environment and reinforce many of the business concepts introduced," said Miller.
i.c.stars is using Modularis Accelerator 6.0, an Architected-Rapid Application Development environment for the Microsoft .NET platform. Accelerator slashes the learning curve for .NET, enabling developers to quickly and successfully build high-performance applications in C# or VB.NET programming languages.
